Allison’s practice focuses on affirmative and defensive environmental litigation, environmental regulatory matters, and corporate and real estate transactions where potential environmental liabilities may inform contract provisions or insurance policies included in the transaction. She represents clients in Superfund and hazardous waste cases; natural resource damage (NRD) suits; and federal and state cleanup, cost-recovery, and contribution actions, as well as in the federally sponsored allocation processes that determine responsibility and cost accountability in large federal and state regulated environmental/hazardous waste sites.
With extensive regulatory, transactional, and litigation experience in both government and private practice, Allison advises companies on compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations; management of environmental investigation and remediation at contaminated properties; obtaining and defending licenses, permits, and other approvals from state, regional, and federal regulatory bodies; and obtaining insurance coverage. She works closely with property owners and developers, nonprofit organizations, industrial manufacturers, and life sciences and pharmaceutical companies to provide comprehensive environmental assessments of purchase and sale documents, lease agreements, and the terms of access agreements, including conducting due diligence to identify environmental issues in corporate and commercial real estate transactions and providing strategies to mitigate or transfer the risks associated with said transactions.
Prior to joining the firm, Allison worked as a Senior Environmental Litigation Analyst at Deloitte Transactions and Business Analytics, where she counseled the U.S. Navy and other federal entities on all aspects of complex environmental litigation, remediation, permitting, and compliance matters. Notably, Allison also clerked at the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance.
Allison has given presentations and published articles on an array of environmental topics, including site remediation, natural resource damages, emerging environmental justice rules and regulations, and environmental compliance.
