Steven K. Tam guides business clients through all stages of patent portfolio development, including strategy, invention harvesting, patent drafting, U.S. and international patent prosecution, and portfolio management. He drafts and prosecutes utility and design patents for U.S. and global jurisdictions in the electrical engineering, computer science, and mechanical engineering fields. His practice also includes performing intellectual property due diligence and providing litigation support to clients across a range of industries.
Before joining the firm and becoming a registered patent lawyer, Steven worked as an electrical design engineer at Texas Instruments. He is also skilled in a wide range of technologies, such as artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicle systems, Software as a Service (SaaS) communication platforms, data analytics, data storage, cloud computing, computer vision, integrated circuits, video game technology, capacitive sense technology, memory technology, semiconductor fabrication, medical devices, social networks, and beauty products.
Steven is also involved in a variety of pro bono initiatives, including providing pro bono representation in guardianship and conservatorship cases in partnership with Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County.
