NJBIZ has included three Lowenstein Sandler partners in its 2021 Law Power 50, an annual roster of the 50 most influential members of the state’s legal profession. Christopher Porrino, partner and Chair of Lowenstein’s Litigation Department, as well as and former Attorney General of New Jersey and former Chief Counsel to Governor Chris Christie, was ranked at number 2.

The publication notes that Porrino’s “ability to work across political affiliations has made him ‘the man to see’ in New Jersey for a wide range of issues and sticky situations,” adding that he is “the essential go-to lawyer for the biggest and most important cases in New Jersey” and that he “has built a deep bench at Lowenstein via connections to state and federal government on both sides of the aisle.” NJBIZ also describes Porrino’s commitment to addressing police-community relations through his role as Chair of the Newark Police Foundation.

The list also includes Matthew J. Platkin, partner in the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense and Business Litigation practices, who topped the list last year while serving in his prior role as Chief Counsel to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. The publication references Platkin’s recent placement on the NJBIZ Next Generation of Leaders list, which highlights the state’s most influential future leaders: “[A]t a firm that has the ears of top movers and shakers in New Jersey politics and business, [Platkin] continues to hold clout in decision-making throughout the state.”

Gary M. Wingens, Lowenstein’s Chair and Managing Partner, is included for the third time in a row in the Law Power 50. NJBIZ comments that “Wingens is on a roll. … For 2020, the firm said it posted revenue of $350 million. And since 2008, revenue has increased by 101%. In the last decade, the firm’s New York office has more than tripled, and offices have grown from its Roseland HQ to offices in Palo Alto, California; Washington, D.C.; and Utah.”
