Lowenstein Sandler has announced that Ivan J. Presant has joined the firm as a Mergers & Acquisitions partner in its Transactions & Advisory Group. Presant brings more than 30 years of experience advising buyers, sellers, and investors on complex U.S. and cross-border transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing arrangements, recapitalizations, tender offers, and corporate control matters. He will be based in the firm’s New York City office.
Presant represents public and private companies across a broad range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, retail, food and beverage, financial services, fintech, and health care. His practice spans both public and private M&A, as well as strategic transactions and non-bankruptcy restructurings, further strengthening Lowenstein's platform during a period of significant growth and sustained deal activity.
"Our Vision 2030 Strategic Plan calls on us to grow and strengthen the firm’s market-leading practices such as, for example, our mergers and acquisitions group, which consistently ranks highly in leading legal industry guides such as Chambers USA and The Deal’s Power Rankings," says Jonathan C. Wishnia, the firm’s Managing Partner. "Ivan’s experience across complex, high-value transactions aligns directly with that strategy and positions us well for continued growth."
"Ivan brings a thoughtful, solutions-oriented approach to advising clients on sophisticated transactions," says Jeffrey M. Shapiro, partner and Chair of Lowenstein's Transactions & Advisory Group. "His experience across public and private deals, including tender offers and proxy contests, complements our existing capabilities and enhances the range of matters we can handle.”
"Lowenstein has built a premier transactional platform that combines sophisticated deal capability with a collaborative, client-first culture," says Presant. "I am excited to join a team with strong momentum and to contribute to its continued growth by bringing my broad range of experience in complex corporate transactions."
Marita A. Makinen, partner and Chair of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice, adds: “Ivan’s breadth of experience across industries and transaction structures, including cross-border matters, makes him a valuable addition to our team. He strengthens our ability to support clients navigating an increasingly dynamic deal environment."
Presant is a frequent speaker at industry events on topics related to M&A transactions and proxy contest strategies. Prior to joining Lowenstein, he was a partner at Mintz.
