Catherine Weiss has been invited to brief senior staff in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), a form of immigration relief for children who cannot be reunified with one or both parents because of abuse, neglect, abandonment, or a similar child-welfare issue. Other speakers at the briefing will include Randi Mandelbaum, Clinical Professor of Law, Rutgers School of Law; Aryah Somers, National Director of Advocacy, Kids in Need of Defense (KIND); and Sarah Plastino, Supervising Attorney for Pro Bono Programs, KIND-NJ.
