Lowenstein Sandler has been listed in the top 30 law firms included in The American Lawyer’s 2026 Pro Bono Scorecard: National Report.
The American Lawyer ranks Am Law 200 firms by their pro bono score for work performed by U.S.-based lawyers. Half of the score comes from the average number of pro bono hours per lawyer in 2025; the other half represents the percentage of lawyers who performed more than 20 hours of pro bono work. Pro bono work is defined as legal services donated to organizations or individuals; it does not include work done by paralegals or summer associates, nor time spent on bar association work, nor on nonlegal work for charities or nonprofits.
Lowenstein’s 2025 Pro Bono Report details the firm’s extensive pro bono efforts over the previous year and the extraordinary commitment of its lawyers and professional staff. In 2025, the Lowenstein Center for the Public Interest dedicated 28,064 hours to pro bono work, served 776 pro bono clients, and averaged 68 pro bono hours per lawyer, bringing its cumulative total to more than 600,000 pro bono hours over the past 29 years.
Lowenstein's pro bono practice encompasses direct representation, impact litigation, policy advocacy, and transactional support for mission-driven organizations —all aimed at strengthening communities and improving access to justice. The firm’s consistent recognition for its pro bono innovation reflects Lowenstein’s core values and underscores its long-standing commitment to advancing the public interest and serving communities in need.
