Lowenstein Sandler announced today that Kegan A. Brown has joined its Environmental Law & Litigation group as a partner in its New York and New Jersey offices. Brown represents clients throughout the full lifecycle of complex environmental and products liability litigations and regulatory matters, particularly involving per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) or natural resource damages.
Michael D. Lichtenstein, Chair of Lowenstein’s Environmental Law & Litigation practice, says: “Kegan is a pioneer in the quickly evolving area of "forever chemical" contamination matters. He led the successful defense in the first two natural resource damage actions to ever go to trial in New Jersey, and has litigated numerous similar federal cases on behalf of some of the world’s biggest corporations. We are thrilled he has chosen to join Lowenstein.” Lichtenstein adds: “Our private equity clients will especially benefit from Kegan’s ability to analyze their portfolios and advise them on the risk of any potential PFAS or other emerging contaminant liabilities.”

Brown’s practice focuses on complex environmental, products liability and toxic tort litigations; environmental regulatory matters, including Superfund and state-equivalent programs and natural resource damage claims. He advises on environmental issues in transactions across a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, retail and consumer products, chemical, pulp and paper, and oil and gas frequently partnering with internal stakeholders to lead investigations that further their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) sustainability goals. Brown helps clients develop and implement effective strategies for permitting, investigation and remediation, unilateral administrative orders (UAO) under CERCLA or state law, as well as government subpoenas, information requests, and reporting requirements; he also advises buyers, sellers, lenders, and underwriters on environmental issues in mergers, acquisitions, and financing transactions.
Brown joins the firm after 16 years, most recently as partner, at the firm Latham & Watkins.
