Lowenstein Sandler is proud to announce that Kathleen A. McGee, counsel in the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense practice and The Tech Group, has been named to Crain’s fourth annual list of Notable Women in Law.
Crain’s yearly list celebrates an exceptional pool of talented female lawyers who have impacted New York City in major ways through professional, civic, and philanthropic achievements. Nominees are assessed for their outstanding achievements during the year, activity with nonprofit or community groups or on behalf of underrepresented individuals or communities, and demonstrated leadership ability.
With close to two decades of experience as a prosecutor and leading regulator, including as Bureau Chief of the New York Attorney General’s Bureau of Internet and Technology, McGee represents established global businesses, scale-ups, and startups (including fintechs, investment groups, and governments) in multiple sectors, including ad tech, financial services, insurance tech, biotech, IoT, and retail, before law enforcement and regulators. Her work ranges from white collar criminal defense matters and criminal and civil investigations before the DOJ, SEC, FTC, and state attorneys general to commercial disputes and advisory matters involving all aspects of technology, data, privacy, and intellectual property.
An author of several state and local bills and laws, including New York State’s SHIELD Act on data security, Kathleen is a regular speaker, author, and interviewee for events and publications ranging from government investigations to data security and privacy and tech regulation. With the advent of the CARES Act, Kathleen has also established herself as a go-to resource for PPP loan applicants navigating the loan process.
The Crain’s accolade is a reflection of both McGee’s individual achievements and Lowenstein’s commitment to providing opportunities and advancement for women. Through its focused employee resource groups, equitable benefits, and dedicated mentorship and sponsorship, the firm demonstrates its sustained investment in a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace where all employees can build and pursue productive careers.
Lowenstein’s diversity, equity, and inclusion achievements have been recognized by a perfect (100 percent) score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index; the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice's Corporate Leadership Award; and inclusion on numerous lists, such as Crain's Best Places to Work in New York City (three years in a row), NJBIZ’s Best Places to Work in New Jersey (for nine consecutive years), Working Mother’s 60 Best Law Firms for Women (eight times), and WomenInc. magazine’s Top 100 Law Firms for Women.
