H. Gregory Baker and Rachel Maimin will be speaking on a panel, "What Compliance Officers Need to Know About Recent Updates to BSA/AML Law," during Compliance Week's Financial Crimes: Risks, Trends, and Proven Practices.

This panel focuses on what compliance officers need to know about the recent, sweeping changes to the Bank Secrecy Act made in the National Defense Authorization Act. The panel will first provide an overview of the primary changes to BSA/AML rules and regulations contained in the legislation, such as the new FinCEN beneficial ownership registry for corporations. Panelists will discuss challenges—both legal and practical—that compliance officers may face in implementing these changes, and present possible solutions. The panel will also outline the enhanced enforcement powers and penalties in the legislation, including significantly enhanced governmental subpoena power, and how compliance officers can best protect their firms.

  • Rachel Maimin, Partner, Lowenstein Sandler LLP
