The Annual Chief Justice Joseph Weintraub Lecture at Rutgers Law School is a public lecture series established to honor the legacy of Chief Justice Joseph Weintraub, who served as Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court from 1957 to 1973. Created to commemorate Weintraub’s reputation for intellectual rigor and principled judicial leadership, the lecture brings a distinguished jurist, practitioner, or scholar to campus each year to address pressing issues in law and public policy—often with a focus on state constitutional law, judicial independence, ethics and professionalism, separation of powers, criminal justice, access to justice, and the broader role of courts in democracy.
