Tricia Wagner is a seasoned data security attorney with over 20 years of experience at the intersection of law, technology, and risk management. She combines a sophisticated understanding of data security with deep experience in the complex legal and regulatory frameworks that govern this quickly evolving field.
Tricia’s background includes serving as Associate Director of Privacy and Security at a global consulting firm; and leading the Governance, Risk, and Compliance program for 13 years at H5, a Silicon Valley technology company specializing in eDiscovery and enterprise data solutions powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.
Tricia partners with C-level executives, founders, general counsel, and IT leaders to deliver practical, results-oriented counsel to organizations of all sizes—from innovative startups to global enterprises. Drawing on her extensive in-house experience, Tricia now advises clients across diverse industries, including healthcare and financial services, on building and maintaining robust privacy, governance, and information security programs. She provides comprehensive guidance on policy and process documentation to ensure compliance with state, national, and international data privacy and cybersecurity regulations; she also counsels on third-party vendor management, tabletop exercises, and the development of effective remediation plans.
Tricia is highly skilled in incident response, having worked closely with local, national, and international law enforcement to recover misappropriated intellectual property and to help clients resume business operations after digital threats. As a former Qualified Security Assessor (QSA), she advises on PCI DSS and other security laws, including HIPAA and SEC Consent Orders. She also supports compliance with major privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, and GLBA, as well as audit standards including NIST, ISO, and CIS.
