Michael Sharpe

Michael Sharpe represents startups, growth companies and the venture capital and private equity funds that invest in those companies. Michael concentrates his practice on venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, securities law and corporate governance. He has also worked on projects analyzing the legal framework that governs the nexus between artificial intelligence and the unauthorized practice of law.

Michael began his legal career as a Capital Markets and M&A associate at Skadden, Arps where he represented private and public companies, private equity firms and investment banks in IPOs, de-SPACs, Rule 144A and Regulation S transactions, shelf takedowns, at-the-market programs, share repurchases and other corporate transactions. Michael then moved to Wilson, Sonsini where he represented startup sand founders across various industries, including autonomous driving, insurance tech, LLM/AI, and carbon recapture.

Prior to law school Michael was an SEO Law Fellow and continued his engagement in DEI as the Co-Chair of the Black Law Student Association’s Professional Development Committee and as a volunteer at Street Squash in Harlem.

Michael split his undergraduate and graduate studies between the U.S. and Europe where he earned his B.A. in English and Economics at Kenyon College, during which he studied at the University of Oxford, and his J.D. at Columbia Law School along with his LLM in Global Business Law and Global Corporate Governance from Sciences Po (Paris).
