Joshua Cook has over 20 years of experience representing emerging growth companies, venture capital firms, and private equity investment funds, as well as leading incubators and seed funds. Josh has spent his career embedded in the San Francisco Bay Area startup and investor community, where he is widely known for his trusted relationships, practical guidance, and early recognition of key industry trends.

Josh provides legal counsel to companies at each stage of the corporate lifecycle, leading them through strategic decisions and coaching prior to incorporation, prospective investor introductions, and general corporate representation. He also advises on venture capital financings, employment matters, commercial contracts, public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. Having served in both legal and executive leadership roles, Josh brings a client-centered perspective to every phase of company building, shaped by his firsthand experience in operational decision-making and deep empathy for founders navigating complex growth.

Josh’s clients span a wide range of tech sectors, including consumer goods, software, blockchain, and entertainment technology. He also has experience advising blockchain and Web3 companies.

Prior to joining the firm, Josh was a partner in Goodwin’s Technology Group. He also served as President at Proof Holdings, Inc., an NFT art and blockchain startup backed by a16z and True Ventures. Earlier in his career, Josh helped launch Gunderson Dettmer’s San Francisco office, playing a foundational role in building that firm’s presence in the region.
