With a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Hao Zhang uses her extensive scientific background to counsel clients in patent applications in the fields of telecommunications, consumer electronics, and computer software, as well as material and mechanical technologies, to name a few.

In addition to drafting and prosecuting applications, Hao leads patent invalidity and infringement investigations. She is also experienced in the preparation of patent portfolios analysis and opinions. Hao has practiced in patent post-grant proceedings including inter partes review (IPR) before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She also assisted clients in patent and trademark litigation at district courts, Federal Circuit Court, and International Trade Commission (ITC).

She is a former extern for the Hon. Alvin W. Thompson in the United States District Court, District of Connecticut; and the Transportation Department of the Connecticut Attorney General Office.

Prior to receiving her law degree, Hao conducted research and development work at Virginia Commonwealth University’s various labs, including Integrated Systems Lab, Biomedical Signal and Image Processing Lab, and Computational Engineering Lab. Before graduate school, she worked as a software test engineer in Shanghai, China.

Hao is bilingual in Mandarin and English.
