Christopher Ward represents companies facing stress and distress, guiding them through financial restructurings, litigation, business divorces, fiduciary investigations, and asset sales with a business-minded, client-driven approach. He has over twenty-five years of experience working with clients in corporate bankruptcy and restructurings, bet-the-company litigation, and distressed asset sales—both in Delaware and nationally.

Chris works with Chapter 11 debtors, Boards of Directors and managers, litigants, credit committees, private equity and credit participants, and middle-market distressed borrowers in bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court alternatives. His deep familiarity with Delaware law is an added benefit when dealing with corporate governance matters, independent directors, and special committees facing fiduciary duty concerns. He regularly advises on corporate law issues, including fiduciary duties for solvent and insolvent companies, as well as special committees and independent investigations.

Chris is well-connected across the restructuring industry, maintaining strong relationships with leading financial advisory firms, investment banks, distressed lenders, and law firms nationwide. He is a former President of the American Bankruptcy Institute, and is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including the Turnaround Management Association, the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors, and INSOL.

  • Currently serving as lead counsel to 50% owner of MOMs, which owns $400 million of commercial and residential real estate in Laguna Beach, CA in Chapter 11 of the Joint Venture formed by the other 50% owner (Bankr. D. Del. and Bankr. C.D. Cal.)
  • Served as lead counsel to Avante Health Solutions/Jordan Health Products, a medical equipment servicing company, in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases (Bankr. D. Del.)
  • Served as lead counsel to Esco, Ltd. d/b/a Shoe City in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy case (Bankr. D. Md.)
  • Served as lead counsel to Lucky’s Market Parent Company and its affiliated entities in their Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases (Bankr. D. Del.)
  • Served as lead counsel to Bayou Steel Group d/b/a BD LaPlace, LLC, Bayou Steel BD Holdings, L.L.C., and BD Bayou Steel Investment, L.L.C. in their Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases (Bankr. D. Del.)
  • Served as lead counsel to EBH Topco, LLC/Elements Behavioral Health, Inc. in their Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases (Bankr. D. Del.)
  • Served as lead counsel to a specialty hospital and physician practice in El Paso, TX in their transfer of assets, wind down, and dissolution (Bankr. W.D. Tex.)
