Lowenstein Sandler partner Matt Savare, Chair of the firm’s Commercial Contracts practice, represented author Judith Joseph, M.D., M.B.A., in negotiations with publisher Little Brown Spark, as well as all ancillary agreements surrounding the release of her new book, High Functioning: Overcome Your Hidden Depression and Reclaim Your Joy.

Based on the first of its kind study on high functioning depression, High Functioning seeks to unmask the hidden face of depression, offering five tools to break the cycle and experience more joy in life.  Dr. Judith Joseph draws on original research, client cases, and her personal experience with HFD to radically shift the way those with HFD see themselves, empowering readers with tools to reclaim their lives from this widespread yet poorly understood condition.

Joseph is a board-certified psychiatrist. She is Chair of The Women in Medicine Initiative for Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons and a clinical assistant professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU Langone Medical Center. She has conducted several clinical research studies in pediatric, adult, geriatric, and women’s mental health as the principal investigator of her research lab, Manhattan Behavioral Medicine.  She recently received a 2023 Congressional Proclamation from the U.S. House of Representatives for her social media advocacy and research in mental health.

A veteran of high-profile representations in the digital advertising, media, and entertainment sectors, Savare represents clients in copyright, trademark, trade secret, and right-of-publicity matters. He regularly drafts and negotiates endorsement and personal appearance deals for athletes, celebrities, and major brands; he has also represented celebrities in high-profile entertainment and intellectual property disputes, including defending a copyright infringement suit filed by the Estate of Frank Zappa and assisting in the successful defense of David Chase in connection with The Sopranos.
