Lowenstein Sandler announces that Matthew R. VanderGoot has joined the firm as partner in its Tech Group. He will be based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, and will extend the firm’s on-the-ground presence in emerging companies, tech, and venture capital in the Capital region.

VanderGoot’s practice focuses on counseling emerging growth companies on corporate and securities transactions throughout their life cycle, including venture capital and growth equity financings, private tender offers, and mergers and acquisitions. He also advises institutional investors (especially venture capital and growth funds), as well as corporate strategic investors on domestic and cross-border private financing transactions.

Zarema A. Jaramillo, Managing Partner of Lowenstein’s Washington, D.C. office, says: “Matt’s extensive experience in the tech M&A space in the DMV area is a terrific addition to our highly regarded venture and emerging tech company practice, particularly as part of our strategy to enhance Lowenstein’s presence in the D.C. market.”

Anthony O. Pergola, partner, co-founder and Vice-Chair of the firm’s Tech Group, says: “I have worked across the table from Matt on many VC and M&A deals over the last twenty years, and I am thrilled he is now bringing his impeccable credentials and deep experience to our practice. Matt offers tremendous value to clients seeking to broaden their markets to both government and private customers.”

“Lowenstein has a great reputation as an energetic and entrepreneurial player in venture capital and emerging companies,” says VanderGoot. “I look forward to collaborating with its highly respected Tech Group to enhance Lowenstein’s market presence throughout the DMV area and beyond as we partner with cutting-edge startups, growth companies and their investors.”

Before joining Lowenstein, VanderGoot practiced at DLA Piper and Latham & Watkins. He received his J.D. and his M.B.A. from the University of Michigan, and his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.

In addition to emerging companies, tech, and venture capital, Lowenstein Sandler’s Washington, D.C. office serves clients in matters involving antitrust, global trade & national security, insurance recovery, government investigations, trusts & estates, and white collar criminal defense.
