It's time to play ball—for a cause! Lowenstein Sandler LLP is proud to host the Annual Fresh Air Fund Softball Tournament "Battle of the Barristers" on June 18 (rain date: Tuesday, June 23). Now in its 33rd year, this beloved tournament brings together teams from numerous law firms and corporations, raising between $75,000 and $100,000 annually to help send inner-city children to summer camp for free through the Greater Newark Fresh Air Fund.
The one-day softball tournament kicks off at 11:30 a.m. ET with division and semi-final games at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield, NJ. The Championship game is at 6 p.m.
The corporate sponsorships and donations from participating law firm teams help make Battle of the Barristers one of Fresh Air Fund's largest annual fundraisers. In addition to competing for the win, each team gets penalized for strikeouts, double plays, runs allowed, and errors. All proceeds go directly to the Greater Newark Fresh Air Fund to provide children with free summer camping experiences.
Participating law firms and corporations this year also include Brach Eichler, Carella Byrne, Connell Foley, Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi, FBT Gibbons, Fox Rothschild, McCarter & English, One Boland Drive, O'Toole Scrivo, and Prudential.
Karim G. Kaspar has led the Lowenstein softball team and its participation in the fundraiser for over 25 years. He says, "The tournament is not just about the numbers; it's about the collective drive to create positive change in our communities. At the end of the day, the real winners are the kids.”
