Lowenstein Sandler received top rankings in several categories in the Patexia 2019 Patent Prosecution Intelligence Report. The firm was ranked 6th in the categories of Best Performing Law Firm Overall and Best Performing Law Firm in High-Tech. It was also included in the categories of Most Active Law Firm and Most Active Law Firm in High- Tech. Being named in these categories demonstrates that the firm has achieved a top one to two percent ranking from this prestigious, independent third-party organization.

“This ranking among the Top 10 Best Performing Law Firms in patent prosecution performance illustrates that Lowenstein Sandler’s Patent Counseling & Prosecution team is succeeding in its mission of protecting the intellectual capital of our clients and furthering their business goals,” said Marina Portnova, partner and Chair of the firm’s Software & Electronics practice.

The Patent Counseling & Prosecution group prepares and prosecutes patent applications and conducts opinion and counseling work for companies ranging in size from startups and the venture funds that back those companies to Fortune 100s and leading research universities.

“We are honored to be recognized by an independent third party that is highly respected in the IP community,” said Mark P. Kesslen, partner and Chair of Lowenstein’s Intellectual Property section of Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (fka, The Tech Group). “The caliber of the global companies and our peer law firms listed this year by Patexia is top-notch.”

Patexia is a privately held IP company formed to provide a network for IP professionals and to bring efficiency and transparency to intellectual property by leveraging the power of data, technology, and experts. The 2019 Patent Prosecution Intelligence Report is the first in an annual series that provides rankings, statistics, and comprehensive analysis of stakeholders in patent prosecution as part of Patexia’s research division.

For the 2019 report, Patexia evaluated over 5,000 law firms based on metrics such as activity, success, and efficiency. The company analyzed data from more than 1.6 million patents issued, including the number of office actions, extensions, allowance rates at the application level, and claim level for the top 1,000 most active law firms and companies.

Kevin O. Grange, a partner in both the Patent Counseling & Prosecution practice and Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (fka, The Tech Group), said, “Our team is dedicated to serving our clients through exceptional service, supporting the development of innovative products and services. Judging by this ranking of 6th Best Performing Law Firms in Patent Prosecution, in addition to our recent award from the USPTO for our pro bono work, it looks like we are on the right track.”
