Zarema A. Jaramillo, head of Lowenstein Sandler’s Washington, D.C., office and partner in the Antitrust/Competition Practice, Steven S. Rogers, a Lowenstein Corporate partner and former general counsel of a large pharmaceutical company, and Global Leaders in Law (GLL), the leading global general counsel forum, hosted an intimate discussion for the members of GLL at exclusive restaurant Fiola Mare in the nation’s capital.

GLL is an invitation-only membership group, offering general counsel a global platform for virtual and in-person collaboration to exchange ideas, receive advice and guidance from peers, and participate in an advanced leadership skills development program. Over the last 10 years, GLL has gained a reputation as “the home of thought leadership for general counsel.”

Jaramillo and Rogers engaged with the GCs on discussions regarding the fundamentals of leadership, as well as what future risks may impact the general counsel’s ability to inspire and influence. Topics included how the legal department of a company can also be a revenue generator and how a GC can be recognized for both bringing in and protecting revenue.

Participants also were interested in how to remain compliant with the patchwork of laws across the United States and around the globe that govern data security; environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria; the upcoming election and best practices for relationships with pre- and quasi-government agencies; and GCs’ evolving relationship with outside counsel.
