Lowenstein Sandler has ranked in the top 25 firms in Law.com’s annual survey of summer associates, based upon responses from nearly 3000 summer associates at 67 firms.
The survey found that summer associates placed high value on firm reputation and practice strength, as well as firms’ progress on adopting and integrating AI into workflows.
Lowenstein’s 10-week summer program introduces law students to the full spectrum of the practice of law in an environment that is supportive and challenging. The program offers educational seminars, mentoring, and, most significantly, participation in complex matters, emphasizing structure, flexibility, teamwork, and social events. Over the last 5 years, 98 percent of Lowenstein’s second year summer associates accepted offers to join the firm.
Donatella Verrico, Chief Human Resources Officer, says: “Approximately 28 percent of our partners are what we call ‘home grown; they either started at Lowenstein as summer associates or otherwise began their often decades- long careers with us. Our summer programs and other mentoring and professional development initiatives are a major part of our culture; they play a large role in how we attract and retain top talent.”
Melissa E. Leidl, Senior Manager of Entry Level Recruiting, says: “Our summer associates program offers a flexible environment that provides early opportunities to actively participate in important litigation and transactions. We are proud to offer young lawyers greater levels of responsibility than their peers are granted at other firms.”
Leidl continues: “Our program encourages entrepreneurial-minded future lawyers the chance to chart their own course. Participants frequently tell us how much they appreciate the guidance, mentoring, ongoing education, technology, and administrative support they receive at Lowenstein.”
This year Lowenstein also ranked in the top 20 across multiple categories in Vault’s 2026 law firm rankings, including Best Law Firms for Pro Bono, Technology & Innovation, and Inclusion, including for Women, People of Color, LGBTQ+ Individuals, and People with Disabilities, as well as Overall. It was also recognized in the categories of Best Law Firms to Work For, Best Summer Associate Program, Transparency, and Social Experiences.
