Tariffs have become a hot issue in the current administrations’ economic policy, sparking significant news coverage, legal battles and heated debates. Lowenstein partners Andrew Behlmann, Bruce S. Nathan, and Colleen M. Restel will kick off the webinar with an insightful overview of the tariffs currently in effect. There will then be a discussion of the impact of tariffs on various industries, including retail, automotive, solar, pharmaceuticals and other manufacturing, trucking, farming, small businesses and companies that are already highly leveraged and financially distressed. The speakers will then explore how tariffs have heightened the risk of bankruptcy filings in these sectors and provide examples of bankruptcy filings where tariffs have played a contributory role. The speakers will then discuss contract provisions that can protect buyers and sellers of goods confronting heightened tariff risk. Finally the speakers will discuss how tariffs can potentially enhance a company’s value both in and out of bankruptcy. This promises to be an enlightening and engaging session.
