Since the mid 2010’s there has been various changes in how exempt organizations engage in political campaign activity. This panel will look at the impact of recent court cases and other legal developments that have raised questions about the rules for exempt organizations and political activity, particularly activity limitations for section 501(c)(4) entities, free speech and religious rights for churches, donor reporting, and the interplay with election law.
