An interactive tabletop exercise addressing key topics that arise when responding to a breach.
This session will explore a cyber incident at a technology company where attackers exploit several vulnerabilities, including the company’s own AI assistant, to steal valuable intellectual property including firmware source code, proprietary imagery, and model training data. Although no personal information is exposed and no breach notification laws are triggered, the company must quickly assess its legal, contractual, and regulatory obligations, as well as insurance coverage.
Participants will examine issues including trade secret protection, disclosure decisions, AI-related security risks, and whether current security practices can keep pace with modern attack methods. This session includes an ethics component that focuses on the Virginia Rules of Professional Conduct and challenges attendees to consider government contract data-handling requirements to determine whether exfiltrated data may be reviewed by outside counsel.
