Tyler partners with the firm’s life sciences and chemical clients to develop intellectual property strategies, including the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications. Drawing on 10-plus years of experience as a research chemist (during which he was an inventor on 18 issued U.S. patents), more than 15 years of experience as a patent agent, and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry, Tyler has a comprehensive understanding of the technical challenges in his field. He effectively translates scientific research into robust patent portfolios, ensuring the protection of his clients’ innovations.
Tyler has advised both U.S.-based and international clients in worldwide prosecution strategy, including U.S. inter partes reviews, European oppositions, and other foreign validity proceedings. He works in diverse fields such as battery materials, functional coatings, home and personal care formulations, catalysts, plastics additives, polymers, and fuel and lubricant additives.
