Maria focuses her practice on M&A, representing clients in private equity transactions, mergers, sales, and acquisitions of private and public enterprises, joint ventures, spinoffs, and venture investments. She has counseled clients in commercial transactions and debt and equity financings, including public offerings of debt and equity. Maria regularly advises business teams on general legal matters impacting daily operations, regulatory compliance, finance, and corporate governance.
Maria has experience working with both mature and emerging companies and strategic partnerships, particularly in the tech sector. She has worked on transactions ranging from values in the lower-middle market to $1 billion for clients across a variety of industries, including energy, health care, cannabis, gaming, financial services, software, communications, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
Prior to her legal career, Maria managed clinical research programs for studies on human papillomavirus-associated oropharyngeal cancer and HIV/AIDs at several prominent medical institutions. She has leveraged her knowledge and experience in biomedical science while counseling clients through the complex regulatory and legal challenges impacting businesses in the health care, insurance, medical technology, and life sciences sectors.
During law school, Maria served as a judicial extern at the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
