Lawson is a commercial litigator who represents financial institutions and corporations in complex commercial disputes at both the state and federal level. With a focus on buy-side clients, including asset managers, hedge funds, and private equity funds, Lawson adds a unique blend of insight and creativity to serving clients involved in capital markets litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, Lawson clerked for Justice Andrea Masley of the New York State Supreme Court, Commercial Division, from 2017 to 2018. In this role, Lawson analyzed an array of commercial litigation disputes, including those involving fraud claims, breach of contract claims, and derivative actions. Lawson also worked as a litigation associate at two international law firms, where he represented clients in securities litigation, internal investigations, and white collar matters.
While in law school, Lawson served as the Managing Director of his law school’s Moot Court Honor Society and won consecutive northeast regional championships in the Thomas Thang National Moot Court Competition, including for best brief and finalist awards at the national level. He also interned for the Hon. Denny Chin of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Hon. Denis R. Hurley of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
