Gary Wingens is Chair of Lowenstein Sandler LLP, where he leads the firm's Executive Board and focuses on strategy, governance, client relationships, and innovation. He works closely with Managing Partner Jonathan Wishnia and the firm's Management Committee on the execution of Lowenstein's strategic plan, Vision 2030.
As Chair, Gary drives several firm priorities: a client insights program built around direct engagement with the firm's most significant relationships; strategic lateral recruiting and practice group growth; and the firm's investment in AI and technology transformation. He serves as the firm's external spokesperson on strategic matters and is actively engaged with leaders across the legal industry on the forces reshaping the profession.
Gary served as Lowenstein's Managing Partner from 2008 to 2025, a period during which the firm's revenue tripled to over $500 million and net income quadrupled, reflecting a 6.5 percent compound annual growth rate. He led the firm's transformation from a regional New Jersey practice into a national platform with offices in New York, Palo Alto, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and Washington, D.C., and repositioned the firm around high-growth sectors — technology, life sciences, private funds, and complex litigation — which now represent approximately 75 percent of the firm's business.
Under Gary's leadership, Lowenstein climbed more than 30 places in the Am Law rankings and invested heavily in talent, culture, and operational excellence, producing double-digit growth across all financial metrics. Throughout his tenure, the firm maintained its independence and its commitment to organic growth, partner collaboration, pro bono service and community engagement.
Gary is passionate about the firm’s commitment to public interest and pro bono work. His vision inspired the creation of the Lowenstein Center for the Public Interest to strategically channel the firm's pro bono and public interest efforts. He serves as Finance Committee Chair of both the Victoria Foundation and The Jewish Education Project, as well as on the Board of Directors of Kids In Need of Defense (KIND). He previously served on the Executive Committee and as Chair of the Allocations Committee and Strategic Planning Committee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest, and on the Brandeis University Alumni Board. He is former President of the Board of Golda Och Academy, a Solomon Schechter school.
Gary is a frequent speaker on law firm strategy, leadership transitions, and the future of the legal profession.
