Cassandra M. Porter is Counsel to Lowenstein Sandler’s Bankruptcy, Financial Reorganization & Creditors’ Rights Department. Cassandra’s practice focuses exclusively on bankruptcy, restructuring, debtor-creditor law and bankruptcy litigation. Prior to joining Lowenstein Sandler, Cassandra was law clerk to the Honorable Cecelia G. Morris of the United States Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of New York. She was also the Assistant Managing Attorney at Kaye Scholer LLP, where her practice focused exclusively on federal and state civil litigation matters.

Cassandra’s bankruptcy practice includes the representation of creditor committees, unsecured creditors and debtors. She currently serves as counsel to U.S. Eagle Corp. and its affiliates in Chapter 11 cases pending in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey. Cassandra also served as debtor's counsel to Meridian Behavioral Health LLC, the largest for profit behavioral healthcare provider in Minnesota, and RoomStore, Inc., a leading retail furniture outlet, in a Chapter 11 case pending the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Examples of Cassandra's recent engagements by creditors' committees in Chapter 11 cases include: Omtron USA, LLC (committee counsel), Global Aviation Holdings, Inc. (committee counsel), Mount Vernon Monetary Management Corp. (committee counsel and counsel to the liquidating trustee), Aerobics, Inc. (committee counsel and counsel to the liquidating trustee), C2 Media, Inc., (committee counsel), Pliant Corporation (committee counsel), Lear Corporation (committee counsel), Sun Times Media (committee counsel) and others.

Cassandra received a law degree from Brooklyn Law School and was a member of the National Moot Court Honor Society. Cassandra also earned a Masters of Information Science from Pratt Institute and a Bachelors, cum laude, from Hunter College. Cassandra is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey state courts and before the United States District Courts of New Jersey, Southern District of New York, Eastern District of New York and Northern District of New York. Cassandra is the Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of The Financial Clinic, a leading nonprofit dedicated to helping the working poor build financial security. Cassandra is also co-chair of the annual event, “What It Is (Really) Like to Practice Law As A Woman” co-sponsored by the New York Women’s Bar Association and the Association of the Bar for the City of New York.
