Bruce Buechler's tenacity in high-stakes bankruptcy forums has made him a coveted choice for clients seeking high-value results. Acting as both business adviser and lawyer, Bruce proactively engages with clients to achieve solutions that are consistent with their business objectives.

Bruce represents business entities such as debtors and creditors' committees in Chapter 11 reorganizations, out-of-court workouts and other financial reorganizations, and he has been involved in numerous complex, high-profile matters. He regularly litigates commercial disputes in both federal and state courts and provides business consulting in that area.

Bruce has served as a member of the Township of West Orange Zoning Board of Adjustment since 1998 and served as the chairperson and vice-chair.

Representative Engagements

Served as lead counsel for the official committee of unsecured creditors in the Borders Group Chapter 11 bankruptcy case pending in New York. Borders, a national book retailer, went through one of the largest Chapter 11 cases filed in the United States in 2011. Once the plan of liquidation was confirmed, Bruce continued to act as lead counsel to the liquidating trust established to wind down Borders.
Served as lead counsel to the official committee of unsecured creditors in the Chapter 11 case pending in New York of The Connaught Group, a direct marketing retailer of high-end women's clothing. Bruce's efforts resulted in the successful sale of the company.
Served as lead counsel to RoomStore, Inc., a publicly held company, in its Chapter 11 filing in the Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Bruce shepherded the company, a retail furniture chain, through an orderly liquidation of its retail stores and other assets.
